Tree House

The tree and the house. Separate in location, yet together in theme.

We usually decorate the tree on the first FHE of December. This year that happened to also be the first day of December. This was the first year that the kids did it all by themselves. That is why there are no ornaments way up high and they seem to be clumped, but I think they did a great job. I love it. I especially loved sitting on the couch while they did it.

Another tradition we have is the gingerbread house. Someday I am going to do one from scratch all by myself. Right now we use the kit we buy at Costco. I divvy up the candy, put on the icing and let them go to town on decorating and eating. Sometime after Christmas I will take my mallet and break the house. They will then eat the dusty remnants. Tasty.

I love the tree, I want two, one my kids can just do what ever to, and one for me that is so pretty...I guess that will not happen for years, and by the time it can, I will want all the ones they make on it because I will miss having them here! I love the gingerbread house tradition, that's fun.

Do they really eat the remnants? I love the day when I can order my kids to put up the decor by themselves. Ahh-I won't hold my breath. They'll be in college by then!

I can't believe you take a mallet to your kids' masterpiece! :-)

Yes, Amber, they really do eat the remnants. Not of the gingerbread, because it's so hard, but the candy.

Awesome. We have two trees this year. One they aren't allowed to breath next to and one they did all by themselves. It's great.
