Ever since Orion got glasses last year the other kids have wanted to have glasses. I remember doing this as a child myself. It goes back to the old, "you want what you don't have." If someone has braces you think it would be cool to get braces. If someone has glasses you want glasses as well. This phenomenon lasts until you actually have to have those things. Not so great now, huh? Theron has been complaining of headaches on occasion when he comes home from school. I decided to get him in to the Eye Dr. since he has never been and get his eyes checked. They are perfect, nothing to worry about. At the same time I took Orion in for his yearly eye appt. Last year when he had his initial appt. he didn't know his letters and he wasn't really good at answering questions. He did much better this year and the doctor said that his eyes are improving or else Orion is just better able to tell exactly what he sees. Going for eye appts. is always stressful because it is a test. What can you see? What does this say? Can you see this? Is one better or two? two or three(three really being one again.)? They are trying to fool you. I really like my doctor. Dr. Todd Lewis. He's in Provo, so a little drive, but a really nice guy. He's also great with the kids. It doesn't matter though, I'm still worried about getting it right. If you get it wrong then you end up paying a lot of money for something that isn't going to help you as much. It's even worse when your child is in the chair. You want them to get all the answers right, yet there's no way to help. I tried to stay cool this time by reading while they were going through the tests, but that just makes me look like a parent that doesn't care. I was paying just enough attention to hear Dr. Lewis tell Theron to crack an egg and put it in the toaster. Theron laughed and Dr. Lewis laughed. I told Dr. Lewis that he wouldn't be laughing so hard when he got my bill for a new toaster. All in all, I'm happy that Theron has great eyes. I'm happy that Orion will have a better prescription. I am not happy that I have to pay $93 for those new lenses. I'm also happy that they both seemed to pass the eye tests and that I don't have to take mine until April.
