BYU Women's Conference

The last Sunday in April my sisters and mom were talking about how they were so excited about Women's Conference and was I going to attend. I didn't think that I was going, because I prefer staying home to making myself find a babysitter and going somewhere farther than 5 min away with a lot of people. On the way home from my mom's house though I started thinking about it and decided that I would go. It was easy to figure out the logistics and everything fell perfectly into place. The kids were on half day so I only needed a babysitter for the morning. Jenn Morrison was nice enough to agree to take Orion and Dylan for me. My mom-in-law and sis-in-law were still in town on Wednesday so I invited them to attend with me. We went early to register and get a good parking place and good seats. We were able to get a nice parking spot and we were able to sit in the floor seats at the Marriott Center.

Here we are in our seats: me, Mom Rawlings, Hanah.

Sheri Dew with Flat Hero.
She is apparently a rock star. As she was walking out of the Marriott Center everyone was clapping and screaming. Very funny. She was nice enough to do this picture though.

Sis. Julie Beck, General RS Pres.
She was the first speaker on Friday morning. I really enjoyed her talk. I thought it was especially good when she told us that there is no "They," someone else to do things. "They will take care of it." Whatever "it" may be. That we are "They" and it is up to us to get things done for our families and community.

Pres. Monson with Sis. Monson.
It was wonderful to see him and hear him speak. We stayed in out seats the whole day so that we could be close. It was so nice to be in such a large crowd of women who are trying to make the world a better place for their families, themselves and others. I was so glad that I went and that Mom and Hanah were able to attend with me. We met some women who had driven from Alberta, Canada. So I shouldn't complain about having to drive 45 min to get to BYU. There were some wonderful speakers throughout the day and I learned a lot. I will try to make myself get off my tushy next year as well.

So jealous. I heard wonderful things about it this year. I should have gone. Maybe next year.

Your blog was about the only place I could find to reply. Guess I have more to learn... Anyway, I bought my lavender bags at www.granolababies.com They have just about everything on clearance so if you want some you'd better shop fast. I think you could make your own, too, by sewing some lavender blossoms in a thin fabric packet. Or something. Good Earth sells lavender...
