I keep getting myself into these crazy situations. A friend will ask me to do something and I will say yes, without thinking. This was one of those times. My friend, Kerri, asked if I would be the state delegate for our precinct. I said yes. In our precinct there is no opposition, it's more of a volunteer position. I really didn't know what it would entail anyway. Time wise it was supposedly the one day for the convention. No big deal. Well, almost instantly I started to receive more mail than I had ever received in my life. I can't believe how many trees are destroyed just for campaigns. It's insane. I pretty soon was just dumping the whole lot in the trash. It is my responsibility as a state delegate to make informed votes. So I got a lot of mail, e-mails, phone calls, and invitations to various events. Needless to say it doesn't end up just being one day that you are putting in your time. This is the first year that I have been a Republican. I registered to be able to vote for Ron Paul. I do want to be involved, it's just a crazy system. The day of the convention is really an all day event. I left my house at 8am and arrived home at 6pm. There's tons of swag though and free food. There's also so many votes. In total I voted approx. 70 times. It was fun, but I don't know if I will do it again. My term is for 2 years though. I learned a lot and was shocked by some things that happened. The person I voted for in the Congressional race,
Jason Chaffetz, missed getting the nomination by .99%, 6 votes. I am not kidding. It was so frustrating. Now he has to fight Cannon to the Primary on June 24th (everyone that is registered Republican please vote Chaffetz). Cannon has the money and Jason has run a campaign without going into debt. It's frustrating that the majority of the delegate wanted him, but when it goes to the public, people usually vote the name they recognize. I'm just praying he doesn't say something crazy like, "The devil is undermining my campaign"--John Jacobs 2006

It was held in the McKay Events Center at UVSC.

Here's Orrin Hatch telling us that we are all going to hell if we don't vote for McCain.

This is Lauren Ellison. I met here at our state senate vote, which was first thing.
It turns out she is from Saratoga Springs. We hung out together all day, which was so nice.

I bet no one else has one of these. This is my gay Libertarian friend, Will Marshall. Okay, honestly, I met him at the convention. I was asking him why he had a Ron Paul poster at the convention since the delegates that go to the national convention are required to vote for Romney even though he dropped out of the race. He used to be mayor of Big Water, Utah. 2nd Libertarian Mayor in Utah and maybe in the US. Notice my cool Stephen Colbertesque point.

Wow, Kerri had called me on this too, so sorry I wasn't there to enjoy it with you. hehehehe
Our precinct also voted for Chavetz and I second the motion. Get signs, get pamphlets and get the word out. He will be oh so much better, and a great change, than Cannon! Vote Chavetz!!!!
