I have lost my voice. I cannot yell. For some people that is not a problem. Those people do not have children. Now I'm not talking about the angry, you are so dead, yelling. I am just talking about the everyday yelling so that I don't have to move from point A to point B to get someone's attention. Here I sit at the computer upstairs and I need my child to come put a garbage bag in the garbage can, but he is downstairs. Now, I could walk downstairs and talk to him or I could walk across the room, get my cell phone and call my home phone until someone picks up.Well, it worked. They didn't pick up the phone, but rather one child came upstairs to see why I wasn't answering the phone. Either way works. Mission accomplished, but I still want my voice back.

The angry, you-are-so-dead yelling comes in handy too now and then. Sorry about your voice.
so sorry. I hate not being able to yell at my kids, too. :)
I'm so sorry...and with no school that really stinks! I hope you get it back soon.
Mine is gone too. I've been crying (silently) because I cannot sing to my baby. It's heartbreaking to have the baby coughing and fussy and not be able to soothe her with a lullaby. I sure hope this is over soon.
Ha ha! Too funny. Sorry you're sick, but calling your kids on the telephone is classic.
When I lost my voice last winter I had to rely on other people to yell at my kids. Because whispering to them to get out of the street a car is coming doesn't work. I like your creative thinking and problem solving!
Because my kids are hard of hearing...it would be crazy if I could not yell. I like the phone idea. I will try it someday. :D
i tell you the times I have lost my voice, I nearly pulled my hair out with frustration. I also realized how much I yell. I need to be more zen. Glad to see someone else is a yeller. We're like two peas in a pod. Oh and the phone thing-way inventive--good job on that one!
I haven't had my voice for awhile too. I hate it. Also being pregnant I REALLY hate to move. Then when Peter is looking for me and I'm whispering, "I'm in here," it just doesn't work. He gets more and more upset and then I finally have to move. Someday I'll get to yell again. I love the phone idea. It proves you can accomplish anything when the need is big enough.
That is so funny! I hope you get feeling better, but at until then keep calling your home phone I love it!
I have never lost my voice (my kids would probably LOVE it if I did). Very creative, if all else fails - phone home!
