I Love Soup

I don't know about you, but when the weather is cold and dreary I must have soup. In the past few weeks we have had it multiple times a week. There are very few soups that I don't enjoy, Lentil Soup you know I'm talkin' about you. I love that it is a one dish meal. I love that I usually get to have bread/rolls with lots of butter with it. I love that it is warm. I love the melding of many different flavors into one. I love the texture. I love that it's not difficult to eat or, usually, to make. Some of my favorites are Tomato Basil, Beef Stew, Cauliflower, Chicken Noodle, Butternut Squash, Chili, Hot & Sour and Mushroom Bisque, just to name a few. One of the easiest ones I make is a tomato and bean soup which consists of opening cans of beans and tomatoes, heating them together, adding seasoning and eating it. So simple, yet filling and good for you. When we were younger and didn't have much money I made it so often that Kenneth now refuses to eat it.

So tell me do, what are your favorite soups/stews? Do you enjoy any cold soups? My favorite is gazpacho. What do you eat with your soups? How often do you have soup? Do you, heaven forbid, hate soup? Soup is a comfort food to me and as the haze settles into Utah I most certainly need comfort.

I have missed your blogs!! I do love soup in the winter...cold day, warm soup...they just go together. I think my favorite right now is Mexican Chicken Corn Chowder, my kids love it too. I also love one cold soup that my husband makes from his mission. It is Yogurt Cucumber soup, it had dill and garlic and is soooo yummy!

I don't make soup very often, but I've been way into chili this winter. I think Jim might be getting sick of it. White bean chicken chili and the good old fashioned kidney bean/ground beef varieties have been on the menu at least every two weeks or so. I do make a great homemade chicken noodle soup from time to time. I love soup.

I'm so glad to see you blogging again! :)
I, too, love soup. We eat it probably about once a week or more. And we usually make homemade rolls to eat with it - yummy!! Our favorites are chicken broccoli, vegetable beef, lentil, chili and I have a really yummy minestrone soup recipe that I love, but it's sort of labor intensive so we don't make it often. Our Lentils have a similar story to your tomato-bean soup - we made it so often early in our marriage (it's so CHEAP!) that we had to give it a rest for a couple years. We just had it again recently for the first time in a long time, and it tasted good again. :)
As for cold soups, I ate gazpacho for the first time on my mission and really liked it, but haven't attempted to make it myself.
We need to have a soup recipe swap!! I'd love to try some new ones.

I love soup, but my little family does not; however, I do make them eat it once in awhile. My favs are chicken noodle, taco, broccoli and cheese, potato cheese (the fatening ones with cheese are delish) most served in bread bowls!

Love love love soup!!! Number one top fave of all time is Clam Chowder (New England style) served in a bread bowl... so so so good! Every time we have bad colds I make chicken noodle from scratch... so comforting, so healing. I just made a new sausage/potato/bean/cabbage soup last week that I liked a lot. My favorite simple one that's sort of from scratch is French onion, a perfect lunch on a cold day. Yummmm, soup!

I love soup too. I want all your recipes. They sound yum. I totally agree about lentil soup. Someone brought us some for dinner when Emma came home. What were they thinking! Actually it was the one meal that Joshua liked so it was worth it. We always have Minestrone, stew, chicken/noodle (homemade noodles please), taco and chili. We really need to branch out. Can you tell that my children don't like creamy soups? Notice no creamy soups on the list. I haven't been on your blog for awhile. I'm so glad you are writing again.

I must admit, I'm not a soup person. Probably because, like you, I only like it with loads of bread, which is not the best thing for me... I do love chili though - best in a nice carby bread bowl, but good alone too.
