Orem Owlz Opening Night

I love baseball. I have loved it since I was a kid. The Dodgers are my team. I remember watching the '88 world series with my dad on one of his business trips. I haven't been to a game in years. The last major league game I attended was a Dodgers/Reds game. I think the Reds won, but since I was in Cincinnati with a Reds fan I wasn't too upset. Kenneth's team is the Reds.

When Kenneth brought home the Owlz schedule from the parade a few weeks ago we both said we are definitely going this year. Myy friend, Jenn, told me that they had some extra free tickets for opening night. At first I said no because when someone says they have extra tickets it's usually two, but when she said they had 10 extra tickets, I said yes. When I asked Kenneth he said no until I reminded him that the tickets were FREE. He finally agreed.
The stadium is so small that there are no bad seats. We were sitting on the firstbase side. The game started at 7pm. It was shady and cool. It was so nice. The game isn't major league, that's for sure, but still so fun. They have a playground, so the kids stayed with us for the first 5 innings and then they went to play. We were playing the Ogden Raptors. The Raptors scored first, then we tied it up. It was tied going into the 9th, it ended with no one scoring. It was 10 pm by then. We decided to stay until the end. The kids had come back to sit with us and watch the game at the 8th inning. The final play in the top of the 13th inning was an amazing double play for the third out and then darkness. The lights went out on the field as well as on the UVU campus. The lights on campus came right back on, but game lights take a long time to heat up.

So they took that opportunity to do the fireworks. I love fireworks. They weren't the best, but that's what the Stadium of Fire is for in a few weeks. Then it started to rain. A lot of people started leaving then. We were staying until the bitter end. We moved seats to be nearer the gates though. The lights soon came back on and the rain stopped.

Dylan was even entertained.

Orion had a period of tummy upset, but still enjoyed himself.

Ian and Sophia were big helpers to me, taking little bros for drinks, potty and to the playground.

Here we are with the Hatches, Jenn's parents. Very intense looks.

Bottom of the 13th, bases loaded, 2 outs. We were dieing. Please, please, just score. I have no idea who the players are, so I can't tell you who it was, but he hit a beautiful hit to right field, just past the right fielder to the wall. Awesome! WE WON!! Thanks to the Maroneys for the fun time. We are definitely going another time. I highly suggest it for a fun family activity if you like baseball. My neice and nephews were there at the same time and they hated it. They left at the 6th inning. Weirdos.

It looks like you guys had such a great time. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I like going to a Colorado Rockies game every once and awhile.

I can't wait for stadium of fire! It will be such a fun time.

I LOVE baseball too. :-) Looks like you guys had a blast! We'll have to go there sometime. Like you said, I'm sure it's much more tame than the Bees game. No facial slashings after an Owls game I'm sure. :-)

That sounds way fun! We have gone the last couple years to a few of their games and they are fun, I was nerveous this year to take Reddek since he wants to always be doing somthing so it is nice to know they have a play ground I didn't notice it last time...probably since I didn't have kids to play on it.
