Parade and Police

Saturday was the Pony Express Days Parade. I usually look forward to the parade. It's my favorite thing about Pony Express Days. I was sick this year and it was cold, so Kenneth took the kids without me. I had to drop off Ian at the beginning of the parade route because he was walking with Rockwell High. It was a crazy drop off. Well, I didn't make it out of there before they closed the roads. I was freaking out a little bit because I was so tired and my head hurt. I tried to go a different way and came upon another closed road. I started begging the cop to just let me through. He was not nice about it at all. He told me that I should have left 20 minutes earlier and then I wouldn't be stuck. I told him I just needed to turn at the church, please. He just shook his head and told me to turn around. I was on the phone with Kenneth and I started crying. I just wanted to be in bed. It should have just been a 15 minute trip. I had pulled over and I heard the cop nicely tell someone else that they might be able to get through if they drove all the way to town center. I decided to do that rather than walk the few blocks to my house. All told the short little trip took me a little over an hour.

Who doesn't love big guys on little bikes? I love the Shriners or Elks or whoever they are.

oooh, you should not have mentioned that parade and the road closures. Hello?!? Who's ever heard of a parade route blocking ALL 3 MAIN EXITS to a very large subdivision! NO Way Out (except to take a very long and time-consuming detour in the oppposite direction)!! If I had an emergency, I would be sueing. (it's bad enough that the road was blocked to the church during Michaela's baptism last year and no one could come - the bishop arrived all sweaty on his bike!).
Um, but, really, I shouldn't get started on this.
sorry. :)
