4th of July Festivities

I started the day by running in the Freedom Festival 5K. Oh, wait a minute, that was last year. This year I stayed in bed and thought about all the people running the 5K. Then we went to a flag raising ceremony at my family's in Orem. It was really nice. The weather was cool enough and cloudy, we even had rain for a few minutes. We had a delicious pancake breakfast outside and there was great company.
After breakfast we had the ceremony with the scouts doing the actual flag ceremony.

Then we listened to some stories, one was a little graphic and jaw dropping, literally. You'll get that one if you were there. We had a very enjoyable morning.

Home we went for naps because we knew we would be up late for the Stadium of Fire. We left for the stadium around 6:30 and as we were getting on the freeway I realized that the tickets were not in my purse. Turn around. Grab tickets, back on the road, arrive at the stadium just in time for the opening prayer. Amen! It was a lot of fun. We had great seats. I don't know that I will ever pay to go in the stadium again or it will probably not be for awhile at least. The majority of my children said their favorite thing was the fireworks. WE CAN SEE FIREWORKS FOR FREE, PEOPLE!!!! Anyway, I think it was a great mix this year of patriotic program, and entertainment.

The Blue Man Group was so funny and enjoyable.

Here's Dylan trying to do the move that the Blue Man Group was telling us to do of putting our leg behing our head. He comes pretty darn close.

Miley sang too many songs that no one knew, but when she sang songs that people knew it was really fun.

I love the fireworks. They are my favorite thing as well. I heard people say the fireworks display was too long, but I have no understanding of that. Maybe if I watched fireworks for an hour I would be sick of it, but under an hour and I'm good. I loved the music that was playing during the fireworks. We had ash and debris raining down on us. That was fun. It meant that I had to shower before I went to bed that night. Overall a dang fun day. Good job, Brad. He's my brother who is the producer of the Stadium of Fire. I'm cool by proxy.
